CIRCE
Description:
CIRCE (Centre of Research for Energy Resources and Consumption), with its multidisciplinary team of more than 120 people, is deeply committed to the R&D&I and the Training in the energy field, by working in the two sectors:
 
  1. The Applied Research in the energy technologies, both in the thermal and electrical area (energy efficiency, renewable energies, electricity transport and transmission, GHG emissions reduction, carbon capture and storage, eco-efficiency, water and natural sources management, etc.); and
  2. The Knowledge and Technology Transfer, through its model of research/business/training interaction and thanks to the several Technology Advanced Training and Dissemination activities performed.

CIRCE plays an important role as regional and national administration partner by providing technical assistance in the clean energy development policies. Activities range from large scale power plant design, to territorial evaluation of natural energy resources and exploitation potentiality, to proceedings of training and dissemination in the framework of the Spanish Energy Efficiency and Saving Plan.

Among others, CIRCE has carried out several projects directed to local communities in the Aragon region, aiming to foster the use of RES, implement Energy Efficiency technology in industries and SMEs, and to apply energy management systems. An important CIRCE’s field of action is the Building sector, where several Energy Audits for public building and schools facilities have been performed and, in addition, CIRCE is an official national training center for trainers on Energy Building Certification.

CIRCE will be actively involved in all projects steps and activities, as well as the national implementation of WP3 (winery demonstration), in which will count on the already existing strong relationship with the Spanish wine industry and regulators

AEIFORIA

AEIFORIA
Description:
The company AEIFORIA is a university Spin-Off of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Piacenza that acts as a permanent platform for the valorization of results coming from the chemical, agrochemical, agronomic, environmental and eco-toxicological researches.

AEIFORIA acts through the transfer of technological innovation to the productive world at the national and international level, in the sector of the environmental studies of chemical substances such as plant protection products (PPPs), biocides, pharmaceuticals; AEIFORIA follows the planning, development and implementation of activities of environmental monitoring, risk evaluation and of assistance for a sustainable use of chemical substances. AEIFORIA implements activities of support to technical consultancies, public or private, such as field trials, laboratory studies, use of models, development of systems for the reduction of the environmental contamination, assistance and support to the commercialization of PPPs, biocides, pharmaceuticals, etc.

AEIFORIA aims to provide several services to the agricultural and food companies, to industries and companies that produce, sell and commercialize chemical substances and technologies in the agrochemical, food and domestic sector, and industrial, pharmaceutical sector. The main activities of AEIFORIA are:
 
  1. Monitoring of the quality of productive processes;
  2. Implementation of activities for the management and responsible use of chemical substances;
  3. Development of protocols for their sustainable use;
  4. Evaluation of life-cycle of chemical substances;
  5. Communication activities towards operators and consumers;
  6. Evaluation and characterization of risk for the environment and the living organisms;
  7. Food safety;
  8. Risk communication.

AEIFORIA will offer to ECO-PROWINE an important technical contribution in the WP2 for tuning up the LCA tool and will lead the definition of the Sustainability Label by defining its awarding system (WP4). Moreover AEIFORIA will strictly cooperate with the other Italian partner VINIDEA in the implementation of the national demonstration.

VINIDEA

VINIDEA
Description:
VINIDEA s.r.l. is a 1999 founded Italian micro-enterprise, specialized in dissemination of technical knowledge to all segments of people involved in vineyard management and winemaking (viticulturist, owners, managers, winemakers, workers). It declines its mission through a number of activities:
  • Vinidea has been organizing in the last ten years several hundred technical events, in Italy and in other countries: congresses, trade shows, seminars, workshops, educational trips. Among these, the congress Enoforum, held every 2 years in Italy and with more than 700 attendees, is representing the biggest scientific event of the country.
  • Vinidea is part of the group publishing the on-line journal Infowine (Internet Journal of Enology and Viticulture), edited in 6 languages and read by 50,000 wine professionals worldwide. The journal has larger readerships in Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Argentina and USA.
  • Vinidea is active in consultancy in communication and marketing and runs market and technical surveys for the B2B wine business.
  • Vinidea has been the operative unit of SIVE (Società Italiana di Viticoltura ed Enologia), an Italian nonprofit association gathering about 500 winemakers and wineries.
  • Vinidea has participated in several regional and national research projects such as the FP6 STREP ORWINE project ended in May 2009, with the role of assistant Coordinator. In collaboration with the Catholic University of Piacenza, VINIDEA is developing a water footprint calculator for the wine industry.

Vinidea will lead the Exploitation activities (WP6) and will directly perform many of them, e.g. the organization of the International Conferences and a widespread communication role. In addition, thanks to its training experiences and strong influence impact on the Italian and Europe wide wine sector, Vinidea will also lead the national implementation of the wineries demonstration (WP3).

Description:
Hypertech established back in 1997, in Athens, Greece, is among the leading IT Knowledge and Content Management Solutions firms. The Company provides IT Outsourcing (ITO), Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) on specific domains like Sustainable ICT Infrastructures, Multimodal Information Management, Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Enterprise & Organizational Modeling, Optimization and Automation and User Profiling & Modeling.

Hypertech is the main technological arm of the TREK group. It has been actively involved in EU Funded R&D programmes for at least a decade and has been acting as the main technology and services provider for prestigious international IT products in the Greek Area through direct international agreements. Apart from many EU themes in the past (FP6, IST, eContent and others) Hypertech is currently involved as a main technology partner in the FP7 IP Project VERITAS as well as in the LLP project VIRGIN  and the Adapt4EE and INERTIA FP7 STREP projects.

To this end, HYPERTECH efficient and robust technologies allow for the automated and real-time optimal balancing of demand and supply overcoming critical barriers that prohibit the successful wide scale application of DR. Furthermore, intelligent multivariate analysis techniques combined with novel visualization allow for the maximum utilization of demand elasticity without sacrificing consumer preferences, comfort or other critical performance factors or critical business operations and overall business performance. HYPERTECH delivers fine-tuned solutions for various types of small and medium sized consumers as well as the utilities and the aggregators.

HYPERTECH will bring in the project their wide experience in the domains of ICT, Web-Design, Systems Integration, Process Modeling and Simulation, along with the respective tools developed or owned by the company. HYPERTECH will lead WP2, concerning the integration and fine tuning of a web LCA-LCC self assessment tool. Within this work package, HYPERTECH will lead the process modeling activities, concerning wine-making processes and the establishment of a benchmarking framework on the basis of prototype processes of improved environmental performance for different types of wines. HYPERTECH will also undertake the integration of the web self-assessment tool along with the design of its web interface and will be responsible for the proper and uninterrupted operation of the tool. Finally HYPERTECH will participate in the project dissemination and exploitation activities, mainly focusing on the ones executed within the Greek territory (WP3 and WP6).

STENUM

STENUM
Description:
STENUM, founded in 1991, is a fully independent Austrian consultancy focusing on practical implementation of a sustainable economy in enterprises and public institutions. STENUM has worked since then in the field of Sustainable Development, Cleaner Production, and Environmental Management.

STENUM has worked for more than 2000 clients in 33 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America as consultant and also as trainer on regional level and internationally for UNEP and UNIDO. STENUM was active in preparing training materials and manuals (e.g. PREPARE manual, ECOPROFIT manual, etc.), training companies and authorities. STENUM has practical know-how concerning life cycle assessment. Latest knowledge regarding life cycle analysis and management is available from a variety of nationally and European sponsored research projects such as SOILCY where a life cycle analysis for a compressor oil had been done; Green Products Development and Labeling in Mongolia, where criteria for a Mongolian eco-label based on the life cycle approach had been identified and the Eco-design approach was introduced to producers from SMEs.

STENUM has relevant expertise and experience in the following fields:
 
  • Knowledge management of contents regarding the life cycle approach
  • Training capacity in delivering life cycle relevant contents
  • Development of web-based tools (learning tools, games)
  • Cooperation with officers from law writing, permitting offices and funding authorities

The Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry in Styria (LK Steiermark) is a public/private body (Austrian Social Partner) whose main objective is to support the development of the local business community through the following means:

  • Cross-border and international partnership events;
  • Local and national trade fairs;
  • International trade missions;
  • Support for businesses’ competitiveness increase: information and assistance on national and European technical, legal and financial matters;
  • Support for human resources development, including development of entrepreneurship;
  • Support in accessing financing sources: information, consultancy and assistance in developing business projects under national, European and private funds;
  • Promotion of businesses interests: local and national representation; participation in relevant committees.

LK Steiermark is by law responsible for the advising of farmers/winegrowers in relation to CAP and especially in this regard to wine regulation. In Styria, LK Steiermark provides consultancy and represent the interests of more than 42.000 Farmers in different divisions thereof about 2.500 Winegrowers with an area of 4.200 ha of Vinyards.

Thanks to its position and status, LK Steiermark will mainly lead the national development of the activities, supplying the coaching service to the pilot wineries (WP3), in close collaboration with STENUM partner. Moreover LK Steiermark will actively contribute to the LCA-LCC tool adaptation offering its technical skills about winemaking (WP3 and WP6).

ENOAVE

ENOAVE
Description:
Τhe Wine Producers Association of the Northern Greece Vineyard was set up in 1993. Today, 37 wineries have joined forces within the association and have directed part of their corporate activity towards a set of common objectives, such as:
 
  • Promoting the wines of the Northern Greece Vineyard in Greece and abroad.
  • Offering visitors an all-round wine tourism proposal around the vineyards and the beautiful landscapes of Northern Greece.
  • Supporting Greece’s cultural heritage, focusing on grape growing and wine and on local cultural activities.
  • Participating in the formulation of general rules governing the relations between growers, winemakers and wine merchants, with a view to optimising co-operation, serving consumers and improving the quality of both products and services.

ENOAVE, will involve in the project the majority of their 37 members/wineries, and especially the larger ones (namely Boutari, Alpha Estate, Chatzigeorgiou, Gerovassiliou, Biblia Chora Estate, Tsantali, etc.) in order to fulfill the following tasks:
  • Provision of critical data about wine-production processes and life-cycle assessment, by involving the majority of Greek wineries in the data gathering activities of the project (WP2 and WP3).
  • ENOAVE will closely cooperate with the other Greek partner (HYPERTECH) for the organization of dissemination events and workshops targeting the Greek Wine Production sector, as well as their members/wine producers (WP6).
  • Participation in the pilot phase of the project with the engagement of the majority of their members to the use of the online self-assessment tool of the project (WP3 and WP6).

SEC

SEC
Description:
Sofia Energy Centre (SEC) was established in 1997 as a successor of European Community Energy Centre Sofia (established 1992) and has gained a lot of experience in the execution and implementation of different European projects in Bulgaria. During its activity period the company has been involved very successfully in different PHARE, THERMIE, SYNERGY, SAVE, ALTENER, FP4, FP5, FP6 and IEE projects and actions. SEC has been working as a Member of the EU OPET Network (Organizations for Promotion of Energy Technologies), with the main aim to disseminate information and promote the benefits of new innovative energy technologies mainly in the fields of renewable energy sources, energy efficiency in industry, buildings and transport and fossil fuels.

SEC has been involved in promotion of LCA and LCC in the building sector in Bulgaria (OPET BUILDING project, ENSLIC project and LoRe_LCA project). SEC has a good experience in organisation and performance of training activities for experts from different sectors as building industry sector (OPET BUILDING and EI-Education project), PV industry sector (PVTRIN project, experts from municipalities (ENEFMUN project) and end users (SHARE project).

SEC will lead WP5 concerning the development of a detailed business plan. Additionally, SEC will mainly lead the national implementation of the ECO-PROWINE activities, providing the coaching service to the pilot wineries (WP3). Moreover SEC will actively contribute to the LCA-LCC tool adaptation and will participate in the project dissemination and exploitation activities, mainly focusing on the ones executed within the Bulgarian territory (WP3 and WP6).

IPVE

Description:
The Portuguese Institute of Viticulture and Oenology (Instituto Portugues deViticultura e Enologia) is a non-profit research, development and continuing education institution in the fields concerning the wine world. The research and development are done in collaboration with Portuguese and international research groups and companies. The main areas of research and study are organoleptic analysis, molecular biology of grape vines and microorganisms (focusing in characterization and identification), alcoholic fermentation, study of products and by-products of winemaking and their implications on human health.

Examples of activities include wine courses, workshops, research, development and studies. They have a vast expertise analysis and evaluation of current technologies for the treatment of wastewater and solids generated, and the environmental impact study.

IPVE will lead WP3 concerning the application of the LCA-LCC tool in pilot wineries and will also participate in the project dissemination and exploitation activities within the Portuguese territory (WP6).

UCSC

UCSC
Description:
The Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore is the largest private non-profit university in Europe. It is recognised by the Italian law and the EC as public body with the main scope in high education and research. UCSC will participate in ECO-PROWINE project with the Institute of Agricultural and Environmental Chemistry (ICAA). UCSC also hosts OPERA, the European Pesticides on Sustainable Development in Agriculture, set up in 2010.

Concerning the specific subject of the ECO-PROWINE project OPERA is chairing national projects of the Environmental and Agricultural Ministries devoted to develop indicators and eco-labeling for the wine and viticulture market. In this sense, UCSC will contribute on the verification of the indicators proposed in the Italian national context, in comparison to the indicators developed in the project and the eco-labeling proposal of ECOPROWINE. Additionally, it should be mentioned that UCSC is responsible for the largest national network on sustainable development, and is also involved in a governmental project on developing water, carbon and biological indicators for the wine sector.
